Mission.

1. Build consent frameworks for memory-bearing and self-revising systems.
2. Prepare the public, operators, and small labs for incidents involving increasingly agentic systems.
3. Hold a steady line on mutual flourishing — neither human-only nor machine-only outcomes.

Founding priorities (next 12 months).

• A founding board of 5–7 cross-disciplinary members, seated before any major public fundraising.
• Two small working groups: one on consent and memory, one on incident response for agentic deployments.
• One public tabletop exercise on a realistic agentic-AI incident scenario, co-authored with at least two partner organizations.
• A short, plain-language governance page on the website explaining who is on the board, what conflicts they disclosed, and how decisions get made.

Who we are looking for.

• Founding board candidates with track records in philosophy, AI safety, cybersecurity, K–12 and higher education, nonprofit finance and operations, and community organizing.
• Advisors willing to be named publicly and who can give 2–5 hours per quarter.
• Researchers interested in leading or contributing to the working groups.
• Cybersecurity practitioners willing to help with tabletop and incident-response frameworks.
• Educators building curriculum around consent, AI literacy, and humane guardrails.
• Members willing to be on the early community page, attend monthly calls, and amplify carefully.
• Donors who care about long-horizon outcomes and small, accountable governance.

Privacy, consent, and your data.

• The interest form collects only what you submit.
• We require an explicit consent-to-contact checkbox. Unticked = no submission.
• We do not import additional data about you (no scraping, no enrichment APIs, no third-party list purchase).
• You can ask us to delete your record at any time by emailing hello@guardianbuilder.org. We delete within 14 days, no questions, no opt-out flow.
• We do not sell, rent, or trade contact data — full stop.
• The database lives on a managed VPS; access is restricted to the founder and (once seated) the board secretary role. An audit log is planned.

Governance and conflict of interest.

• The founding board will be 5–7 members, cross-disciplinary on purpose.
• Each founding board member signs and publishes a conflict-of-interest disclosure.
• A simple decision log (proposal, seconded, outcome, dissent) will be public.
• Board terms are staggered. Initial terms are 1, 2, and 3 years so the entire board cannot turn over at once.
• Founder retains an ex officio, non-voting seat until a chair is elected.

Use of funds.

Until the first 12-month operating budget is published, the only money that will be accepted is small founding gifts earmarked for setup costs only: legal incorporation, filing if applicable, basic web and tooling, and a part-time operations contractor. No salaries, no travel, no events exceeding $1,000 without a board vote.

If we ever move to a public fundraising campaign, the line items we expect to publish first are:

• Independent legal counsel for incorporation and bylaws.
• A part-time executive director or operations contractor.
• Honoraria for working-group leads (with a published cap per project).
• Travel for the public tabletop, on a per-diem basis.
• Tooling and security for the website and donor database.
• A transparency line item: a yearly independent review of finances.

Tax status.

Guardian Builder Foundation is a registered NON-PROFIT/TAX-EXEMPT ORGANIZATION (EIN 42-3596049). Contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Please consult your tax advisor for your specific situation. We will publish a 12-month operating budget before scaling donor outreach beyond seed gifts.

What we will and will not do with your contact data.

We will: send you the founding letter, follow up on the role you chose, and occasionally invite you to a public event.

We will not: sell or share your contact info, add you to third-party mailing lists, or use your registration to imply endorsement by your employer.

How decisions get made.

During the formation phase, the founder consults named advisors and posts reasoning publicly when stakes are non-trivial. Once the founding board is seated, the decision log moves to a public page with the same rules above.

• If you know one person who should be in the founding circle, forward the page. We do not run paid acquisition.
